The OpenGov Un-Conference

An un-conference is not a conference. It is a participant-driven event centred on a theme or purpose and a forum for creativity, engineering, and innovation.

YOU decide the agenda. YOU bring your interests, your issues, your ideas. YOU interact with experts and your peers to solve your issues.

Why Open Gov UnConference?

“Open Gov” is about “voice”.
It is about changing the way that governments communicate in real time and being able to provide a transparency around that communication in terms of real outcomes and improved services to provide an efficient, open exchange of information. That is what this “Unconference” seeks to demonstrate in practice.  Instead of just focusing on technologies, key issues around Government openness and transparency will be firmly placed within a collaborative problem solving environment enabled by people, ideas and technologies to rapidly advance the state of play.

Why Now

It could be argued that there is a lot of noise and rhetoric around “Gov 2.0” with little opportunity for the airing of the real day to day problems that relate directly to government, citizen and consumer engagement. Following on from the recent Gov 2.0 Taskforce report and the Government’s response we now aim to take the conversation to the next level and to explore issues, experiment with solutions and then execute real and actual outcomes that are available to all participants.
